Today we went to the Olympic National Park. We drove up Hurricane Ridge into the snowy mountain top. At ground level, we went to the visitor's centre where we saw a deer at the side of the car park. It's surprising how tame the deer are here.
This is one of our stops on the windy road up Hurricane Ridge. There were some amazing views around every bend.
This we think is a Marmot (or at least that's what people said it was).
We took this picture when we realised we were at eye level with the top of the mountains. We were 5352 feet up and it was cold!
In this picture you can see a glacier.
Mum and Sophie demonstrating how deep the snow is. We were told that this season has had snowfalls that are 44' deep.
After we came down from the ridge, we went for a picnic lunch by a lake. We were sat there freezing while some young children were swimming. We thought it was quite surreal. Even their mum was sat in the car away from the cold wind.
After that we went for another waterfall walk. This is Dad and Sophie resting on the way there.
The waterfall was spectacular!
Only joking :o)

Am I wrong in thinking that you should probably go buy some thicker jumpers? Unless Sophie has some serious thermal gear on under that hoody I think you are underdressed!!!! It looks freezing. I thought Icelandic snow was impressive. But looks like your mountains might take the snow biscuit. More wildlife pics please. I love that bird. So pretty. You have such a great camera. I should have your camera to capture the wildlife within this house. She is a laugh a minute that one. We could not get her to sleep last minute. She kept coming into the room and doing sad eyes while resting her chin on the bed. Sadly there was not enough room for her to sleep on the bed overnight but as soon as Sam got up for Busy Bee I let her straight up onto the bed for a lie in. Would you believe she chose to sleep ON my legs? What a wally! ;0) xxx
P.S. Not travel related comment here but I just had to share the momentous occasion..... I just had a shower. In my own house. With a fancy new shell shower curtain. Woohoo!!!! And in other news, Sam gave Kala a shower yesterday too. We're currently lovely and clean in this house!!! xx
